"A Library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people." Andrew Carnegie

The Story Walk this summer is the book entitled "One Day in the Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Tree" by Daniel Bernstrom and illustrated by Brendan Wenzel. Parents and Caregivers if you haven't done the Story Walk before, you and your child(ren) start at the Library.  The Librarian will give you the map for the downtown stores who are each displaying one page of the story in their window.  When you have finished the Librarian will give each child 2 Chamber Bucks to use as you like!

Only about 51% of families read aloud daily to their young children. With that in mind, the Hampton Public Library in partnership with First Bank Hampton is offering a program for children birth through Kindergarten.  The program " 1000 Books before Kindergarten" encourages parents and guardians to regularly read to their young children.  By reading just one book a night, families can reach their 1000 book challenge in three years.  Reading to your children is the best activity to ensure their success in school and in life.  Contact the Library for details.  The program is free!
