The Hampton Public Library in sponsorship with the First Bank Hampton is offering for the first time a program called "1000 Books Before Kindergarten."  This program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children.  By reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000 book goal in three years.  The program is free of charge and is for children birth through five years of age.  Children receive a free book for every 200 books read and an HPL t-shirt when they reach their goal of 1,000 books. Parents can register their child(ren) in the children's department of the Library.

The Hampton Public Library Board of Trustees will meet in regular session on Wednesday, June 29th @ 5:15 pm in the Library.  Everyone is invited to attend. On the agenda; June bills, update on the building, finalize budget, and library reports.

Hampton Public Library in the Fall If you want to see this old building restored to its historical look, contact City Hall at 456-4853 to let the Council know how you feel about the project. Belen Krabbe has issued a challenge to the citizens of Hampton and Franklin County to donate $1,000.00 to the project or the Foundation, and she will match your donation up to $10,000.00 total.  If you haven't donated to the project please contact City Hall 641-456-4853 or the Library 641-456-4451.  Previously $50,000 was donated but with the added expense of taking the wall completely down, the price has gone up. It was outstanding to have the community's support and now your support is more important than ever!
