Use the Genealogy Collection

The library has an extensive collection of genealogical materials including local family histories, cemetery records, newspaper on microfilm, and other items of interest.

The Hampton Public Library's genealogy collection includes newspapers on microfilm from 1896 through some of the decade 2000.  The Library also has census records on microfilm and marriage and death records.  The genealogy department is located in the upper floor of the Carnegie building.   The librarian can assist you with simple obituaries if the file has been copied to the filing card system.  If the obituary needs to be looked up on microfilm the Librarian may have the time to assist or will give you a contact name and phone number of a person who can assist you.  She does charge a small fee.

The Hampton Newspapers regrettable have not been digitized at this time.  Hopefully in the future there will be grant or memorial money given to the Library to help offset the cost.
